Desert Archive

Growing up in the Southwest, the desert became a profound influence on my perspective. As I changed and grew, the desert remained a constant; each visit humbling me with its primordial and transcendent presence. Cryptobiotic soil, aged hundreds to thousands of years, pinyon pine and juniper skeletons standing long after their centuries-old lives, and intricate rock formations shaped over millions of years tell a story of time and resilience. These elements record every disturbance, offering a natural archive of untouched fragility. This series expresses the awe of standing in an ancient, timeless place and serves as a call to protect and honor this fragile landscape; a reminder of a world far greater and older than ourselves.
